Materials Manager

The ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of personnel engaged in:
•   Development of production schedules.
•   Purchase of material, equipment, machinery, service and supplies.
•   Receipt and shipment of materials and products.
•   Distribution of all materials required in the production and movement of Jewell and Triplett product.

Working with the Manufacturing Manager, the Materials Manager will be expected to develop an effective Supplier Qualification and Development program; apply new techniques in the pursuit of Lean Purchasing; better utilize the company’s ERP system; participate in product design/enhancement to ensure ‘Design for Procurement’; modify department processes to better service the manufacture of products; maintain corporate and departmental budgets; create and meet department objectives; sustain continuous improvements related to delivery, quality, and cost; and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Our preferred candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in business from a four-year college or university with 5-10 years of related management experience. CPM or CPIM is a plus. Working knowledge in a Lean environment is required.

Related experience includes a background in materials management, competent organizational and leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong teamwork capability, experience with MS Office, and a positive work ethic.
