Pointer Mechanisms:

Pointer Mechanisms

Jewell Instruments manufactures and markets a broad range of JEWELL brand pointer mechanisms ensuring that we will meet your specifications. We have a variety of designs available. Below is a selection of our most popular flag mechanisms. We have engineered these models to meet or exceed a variety of application specific needs.

JEWELL Model 201 -- The Original

The JEWELL 201 was the first self-shielded eccentrically pivoted mechanism for aircraft applications. It maximizes the highest possible torque for a given volume of magnet material. Features such as high torque, heavy eddy-current damping, and low relative inertia provide excellent performance characteristics 3/4 especially where influences of vibration and changes of pointer indications are significant factors.

JEWELL Model 208 -- Hi-Torque

The JEWELL 208 meets the demands severe environmental requirements. This high-torque mechanism easily operates long and heavy pointer flags (such as the vertical and glideslope pointers in 5" Attitude Director Indicators). A unique version of the Model 221 is the JEWELL 202. It has two individual coil assemblies consolidated into one space-saving mechanism. This is achieved by employing a common magnet and return path.

JEWELL Model 223 -- Hi-Torque II

When high-torque is a prime requirement the model 223 rises to the occasion. Its features are similar to the JEWELL 208 3/4 with the addition of size versatility. The Model 223 is available in 5 different lengths and widths for adaptability to your individual instrument requirements.

JEWELL Model 9071 -- Critical Space Mechanisms

The JEWELL 9071 meets the unique requirements of suppressed movement applications. The JEWELL 9071 operates warning flags and short bar pointers in close proximity aircraft applications. It is tiny 3/4 only .373 square inches mounting surface. It has high torque for its size up to 1200 mg-cm. The 9071 provides up to 60° deflection with the de-energized position at any angle. Jewell Instrumentsoffers a variety of mechanical suppression features.

JEWELL Model 9070 -- High Reliability Mechanisms

JEWELL 9070 is a high reliability mechanism, which operates long and heavy pointers. DC self-shielded machine core-magnet construction ensures high torque with up to 60° deflection. Typical applications include glideslope and vertical pointers in Attitude Direction Indicators. The model 9070 may also be used as a sensitive galvanometer for a variety of test and measurement equipment.
