  • our high value, high accuracy, rugged designs
  • our willingness to engineer and our capability to design custom solutions
  • our applications expertise enabling us to understand what will work, what won't work, and what the tradeoffs are

For many aerospace and industrial application our sensors are the perfect custom solution. Our applications engineers will not be satisfied until your requirements are met.

Railcar Control

Acceleration and deceleration control is critical in railcars and people-movers.

The input dynamics of these systems are constantly changing as people board and disembark.

Accelerometers measure inputs for speed-control-systems that adjust vehicle acceleration resulting in a safe and comfortable ride.

JEWELL LSO

The JEWELL LSO has been custom engineered to meet the special demands of railcar control. A custom frequency response system meets the demands of the unique dynamics encountered in railcar applications.

This inclinometer also has a system of ruggedized electrical components.

Angular Acceleration

Accelerometers contribute in a variety of angular acceleration functions.

JEWELL Application Engineers provide custom solutions for angular acceleration applications such as flight control systems, autopilot, or aircraft stability & control systems.

JEWELL ASXB10

The JEWELL ASXB10 is a fluid rotor angular accelerometer. It is a rugged unit, which is sensitive to very small angular acceleration. A fluid rotor allows high sensitivity without relying on a large mass supported by a relatively fragile bearing system. This rugged design allows the ASXB10 to respond to tiny angular inputs.

Available in ranges from 1radian/second2 to 100radian/second2.

Flight Control Systems

Flight Control systems make many routine adjustments to attitude and direction in the course of a flight.

Inputs from accelerometers and discrepancies with predetermined target inputs are the basis of these adjustments. Accelerometers for flight control applications require high accuracy, high reliability and must conform to aeronautic standards such as 28V unipolar inputs.

JEWELL manufactures a complete system operating from 28VDC input, including a DC/DC converter, a high-accuracy servo accelerometer and a comparitor.

The system output is a measured change in output-state. It is derived from the relationship between the input acceleration and internal reference acceleration. Application specific signal conditioning and redundant systems are built into each unit.

Autopilot

The JEWELL LCA 165/167 is a high performance pivot and jewell 5G and 10G accelerometer used in autopilot applications. The DC output of the LCA 165/167 is isolated from the input. This assures that input noise does not effect the quality of the output signal.

Aircraft Stability & Control

The JEWELL LSXF is a low range accelerometer with multi-G accuracy in the presence of 20GRMS vibration. Its mechanical input-energy attenuation and unique servo characteristics yield a high accuracy at 1GRMS. Rugged features include a solid aluminum machined housing and specially designed encapsulated electronics ensuring components remain intact regardless of external forces. EMI/RFI filtering included

Missile

Today's smart weapons rely on missile guidance systems to deliver strikes accurately and in some cases to evade enemy early detection systems.

Accelerometers are an essential component of these systems. The accelerometer collects input data to determine if the missile is on course. This data- delivered to a control system- guides the missile to its intended target.

JEWELL LSXS

The JEWELL LSXS 10G unit operates in a 27GRMS-vibration environment. It is very rugged with the ability to deliver accurate information at 27GRMS. A unique servo system with high frequency components makes the LSXS a compact unit. The servo-loop includes frequency rejection, which allows accurate output of 0-10G acceleration information in the midst of high vibration and noise.

Fire Control

Customized force balance inclinometers are being used in many fire control systems and mobile antenna leveling applications.

They accurately measure slope and tilt of the installation allowing automated leveling of a weapon's platform or target acquisition radar systems.

JEWELL LXSHE

The JEWELL LXSHE is a double axis accelerometer used in a variety of fire control applications. This ruggedized unit produces high accuracy output with low levels of noise within a wide bandwidth.

Ship and Barge Leveling

Signals from an inclinometer installed on a ship or barge are sent to a ballast transfer hydraulic system.

The inclinometer is also employed for closed-loop leveling of equipment used in underwater drilling and mining operations.

JEWELL LCF-2450

The JEWELL LCF-2450 has infinite resolution and high sensitivity, which provides very high accuracy and level control. It is rugged by design, including a machined aluminum all-weather housing.

Deviation Surveys

Used for borehole mapping and deviation surveys, our JEWELL inclinometers respond to borehole deviations as small as 0.1 second of arc.

JEWELL LCF-196

The JEWELL LCF-196 inclinometer provides double axis sensing and complete signal conditioning in a 28mm diameter package. This signal can be collected for analog recording or input into a computer.
